I will summarize how quantum computing may help with today’s cybersecurity and tomorrow’s virology efforts. In cybersecurity one may use quantum technologies to protect against hacking, which is now particularly important given the increased internet reliance. In virology, quantum computing would enable consideration of much more complex molecules. This includes understanding the mechanisms that govern docking between the virus’s outer layer and the cell membrane, or docking of a drug to the virus’s surface.
